Diprolene Side Effects

Warnings and Precautions

Special warnings

Prolonged use on the face of class I, II and III corticosteroids exposes the occurrence of corticosteroid-induced and paradoxically corticosteroid-sensitive dermatitis, with rebound after each stop. A gradual weaning, particularly difficult, is then necessary.

Due to the force of action of this steroid, when used on large surfaces or under occlusion, an important absorption of the product with a passage in the flow can occur causing systemic effects of corticosteroids through oral or parenteral (particularly in infants and young children: see contraindications), and in particular a temporary slowing down of adrenal function (cushingoid syndrome and slowing down of growth); these accidents disappear when treatment is stopped, but abrupt stopping may be followed by acute adrenal insufficiency.
In children, treatment may not be exceptional and under strict supervision.

Precautions for use

One should be particularly wary of spontaneous occlusion phenomena which may occur in folds or under waterproof pants.
