• In vivo, in animals, ruscus administration produces an increase in the venous perfusion pressure. The intensity of the effect is comparable on a healthy vein and on a vein made pathological.

Mechanism

• The venotonic effect of ruscus is exerted by an adrenergic type mechanism, at 2 levels:
  • Direct effect as an agonist of the receptor alpha-adrenergic post-junctional cell smooth vascular wall,
